I use digital photography and natural light to create images that are both elegant and compelling. What I do is visual storytelling – taking a photojournalistic approach to quickly, quietly, and unobtrusively capture the beauty and emotion of spontaneous real life moments, settings, and details. As a result, I love to shoot people and landscapes and architecture. These elements come together in weddings. I particularly appreciate those that take place in natural, rustic, casual settings – vineyards, farms, barns, parks – or in picturesque landscapes and distant destinations.

My vision is to create a cohesive collection of great images that capture the real life story of your wedding day. For weddings, that vision is driven by the final product – images that can stand alone as separate prints or come together as part of collection, as in a coffee table book or album.

Samples of my work can be seen on my website, at www.nasbephoto.com. Some favorites from my work and from personal projects and interests are posted on my blog at blog.nasbephoto.com.

I have been a ardent photographer my whole life. My father was a commercial artist, and I seem to have inherited some creative genes. As a boy, I developed film and prints in my home darkroom. A location photographer by nature, I’ve almost always carried a camera and taken pictures wherever I’ve been. My previous professional photography experience includes travel, landscape, weddings, events, portraits, commercial, industrial.

Rod Nasbe Architectural Photography formed in early 2010 with a decided focus on architecture and interiors. Over the years, my interests have been broad and my style has evolved, but has always been characterized as capturing intimate artistic images of people on location that tell a visual story with emotional impact; using an unobtrusive, candid, photojournalistic approach to create elegant compositions with strong graphic elements; with warm natural light. More recently, my entire photographic experience has come together in weddings, incorporating a visual storytelling/photojournalistic approach to location shooting. As a result, in late 2011, I renamed the business Rod Nasbe Photography, with a specific focus on fine art wedding photojournalism.

I continue to study photography, with a goal of refining my technique and improving the final product for clients. I am particularly inspired these days by British wedding photographer Jeff Ascough, Australian wedding photographer Marcus Bell, and Canadian wedding photographer Christina Craft. I’m currently seeking certification as a professional photographer – a process that includes validation of one’s extensive knowledge of photography (I passed the certification exam) as well as validation of one’s practical competence (I submitted a portfolio of images for review by a panel of judges).
